History Of Raftaar (Dilin Nair)

Raftaar started his career as a dancer. He did background dancing for Indian Bollywood films. He was recognized after participating in the Indian dance show Dance India Danceunder the name Max, along with a partner named Manik. He also worked as a dance teacher at The Big Dance Club, Delhi. A while after losing out on the show, he started his career as a rapper. He began working with music producer Yo Yo Honey Singh, as part of the music group "Mafia Mundeer". Raftaar then split up from the group, After leaving the group, Raftaar was recognized by the Punjabi music band RDB, who then signed him into their label, Three Records. Soon after the split between the RDB members, Raftaar joined Manjeet Ral (now known as Manj Musik) who served as a singer for RDB.

Yo Yo Honey Singh is undoubtedly India’s most famous rapper but also the most controversial. Right now the rapper is caught up in a fresh new dispute. He is fighting with fellow rapper Raftaar  over some of the songs from the soundtrack of ‘Fugly’, an upcoming film.  Raftaar is claiming that he is the writer and composer of three songs-, the title track and two other songs ‘Dhup Chik’ and ‘Banjarey’.

Raftaar has been given credit for the song ‘Dhup Chik’ but Honey Singh is also credited as the writer. On the other hand ‘Banjarey’ and the title track ‘Fugly’ have been officially credited to Yo Yo Honey Singh. Honey Singh has reacted in a leading tabloid about this issue, saying that, "I think I have met Raftaar only once. I have only two songs in the film – ‘Fugly’ and ‘Banjarey’ and there is no other song of mine in it, nor am I claiming it.

Raftaar has also responded to the comments made by Honey, stating, "Yo Yo and I wrote and composed these two songs. I have no idea why I am not being credited for the other one. I wrote Dhup Chik about three years ago. If I tell you that one of his most famous songs, ‘Dope Shope’, was also written by me, how would he react.

However it is not fully clear which song he is exactly mentioning. The title track is accompanied by a music video which features Bollywood superstars Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar. The film ‘Fugly’ was scheduled for release on 16th May but now has been postponed to avoid clashing with the film ‘Heropanti’.  It is still not clear where this controversy is heading.

This is not the first time Yo Yo Honey Singh has been dragged into controversy. Last year he faced criticism for his song ‘Party All Night’ from the film ‘Boss’. The song contained lyrics that mentioned eating the meat of the bird teetar (partridge) which is a protected species in the State of Haryana.

Honey was also accused of promoting liquor consumption and insulting women and a legal notice was sent to him. Later some portions of the lyrics were muted during its broadcast on TV and radio. He was also accused of singing the vulgar song ‘Main Hoon Balatkaari’ (I am a rapist). He faced court trials and even some of his shows got cancelled. But later the court dismissed all cases because there was no evidence that Honey actually sung the song.
